WEYMOUTH have seen Frome Town attacking-midfielder Jon Davies turn down an attractive offer to join the Terras.

Last week, Weymouth were made aware of the availability of Jennison Myrie-Williams, who signed for Hereford and went onto score a 30-yard shot against the Terras on his Bulls’ debut.

Frome Town announced that Davies had rejected the move via Twitter saying: "Delighted to announce that @Davies436 has turned down an approach from Weymouth to remain at Frome Town despite the significant financial rewards on offer. Appreciate the talent people."

Weymouth assistant manager Paul Maitland said: "We made him an offer and he has turned it down to stay at Frome.

"He had some reasons outside of football, not just financial, not to want to come which we respected. We expect our players to be able to train and fully commit and he felt that it is something he could not do."

Weymouth have been looking to strengthen in the forward area if they can find the right player and Maitland said: "When we assessed the squad and looked over the squad it is the one area maybe we are a little bit light on.

"It is not a slant on any of the current players we have that play those positions. It is just we come into the absolute business end of the season and we have to make an assessment of the squad and where we are at.

“We feel that if we have an injury that is the area we are slightly light in."
