A Second World War veteran proudly opened a new care service in Weymouth town centre.

Cyril Gill, 93, joined the team from Home Care Angels to officially cut the ribbon of the new branch in St Mary Street.

Home Care Angels is one of Dorset’s leading domiciliary care providers helping people remain comfortably in their homes for as long as they wish.

Manager Lesley Brock said: “We will be offering our services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, either live-in or domiciliary across Weymouth, Portland and the surrounding areas.”

As well as providing household support, Home Care Angels host events for their clients to help them socialise and keep active.

Lesley added: “Our main aim is always to offer our clients the ability to live safely and comfortably in their own home maintaining their dignity and independence.”

At the celebratory opening, visitors were welcomed into the branch to meet the team and see what services are on offer. All money raised at the event was donated to the SSAFA Armed Forces Charity in honour of Mr Gill, one of the last surviving Battle of the Bulge veterans who is still leading an active lifestyle.
