BROADMAYNE Village now has a new seat half way up Knighton Lane.
The idea for it came from a villager so that those walking down for their daily paper or shopping from the post office and stores have the opportunity for somewhere to rest and get their breath back as they return.
The site was made available by two former villagers who own the land on which it was placed and West Dorset District Council has kindly sited a waste bin next to it.
The parish council ordered the seat and arranged for its installation by local contractors.
Funding has come from the £400 prize money won by the village in the Best Kept Village/Best Community Village and Calor Village of the year competition in 2007 with the parish council providing the remaining funding.
The council will also be responsible for its maintenance.
June Salt, Chairman of Broadmayne Parish Council, commented, "Although the parish council maintains eight village seats, this is the first one in this part of the village.
I hope it will be enjoyed and used not only by Broadmayne villagers but those from West Knighton further up the Lane"
