CERNE ABBAS A HALLOWEEN Party will take place in the Village Hall on Monday, October 31.

It is suitable for children aged between three and ten years old, the party will last from 3:30pm – 6pm, The entrance fee is £ 3 per child, a disco will be on offer as well as games, food and drink.

“ART at No 5”, the summer art exhibition, has now closed.

ROYAL British Legion: The AGM of the Cerne Abbas & District branch will be held on Wednesday, October 26 at 6pm in St. Mary’s Church.

Everyone is welcome to attend to find out about the branch’s latest activities.

Veterans are often much younger than commonly assumed so please give as much as you are able to to the Poppy Appeal which is now in its 90th year.

DIG for Victory Market: This market which was held on Saturday, September 10 was able to raise and astonishing £ 639.73, despite the inclement weather.

Thanks go to everyone who donated produce and helped run the stalls as well as everyone who purchased something to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal.

ARTSREACH invites all the family to attend “Voyage of the Nutjellynana” during half term this year.

Presented by the Angel Heart Theatre this is an out-of-this-world voyage with amazing puppets and a cosmic soundtrack, ideal for sci-fi and outrageous story-lovers alike!

“Voyage of the Nutjellynana” will be shown on Wednesday, October 26 and is suitable for ages four and over.

Tickets for adults are £ 5 and £ 4 for children with a family ticket costing £ 16.

CERNE Singers: This still relatively new singing group which has given some fabulous concerts in the village is holding its first Open Rehearsal on Friday, November 4.

It marks the start of a new season and everyone who is considering singing with an informal and friendly mixed choir is very welcome.

The music will be varied and the aim of the Open Rehearsal is to have fun and find out if joining the group might be for you.

The Open Rehearsal will take place in St. Mary’s Church from 6pm – 7pm.

HISTORICAL Society: This month’s talk is entitled “Dorset Place Names”.

It will take place in the Village Hall on Thursday, October 27 and be presented by Anthony Poulton-Smith.

Anthony is a freelance journalist and author who has published many local history books.

The talk starts at 7:30pm, visitors are as always welcome against payment of a small fee.

94 GROUP: The group’s next meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 26 in the Village Hall.

Jan Saunders will return, bringing everyone up to date with her work in Romania.

Visitors are welcome to attend for a small fee.

SYDLING ST. NICHOLAS DIAMOND Jubilee Celebrations: The village is showing plenty of enthusiasm for celebrations over the Jubilee weekend so watch this space!

Saturday will most likely be held as a Sports Day with the possibility of a dance.

Sunday will see a special Family Service with possible a picnic afterwards.

On Monday, a beacon will be lit with fireworks and a barbecue also being suggested.

Other ideas include the design of a commemorative card, a hog roast and a fancy dress football match to name but a few!
