- THE Mayor and Mayoress of Chickerell, Councillor Norman Carter and Mrs Jan Carter held their Civic Day on Friday, July 25th. Mayors and Chairmen from all over Dorset and some of Somerset attended and took in some of the delights of the town.
The invited dignitaries made a stop at DEK Printing Machines Ltd where they were given a tour and a talk about what the business was about before carrying on to the Willowbed Hall for a lunch cooked by the Chickerell Luncheon Club Crew.
The group then went onto walk down the Firing Range at the Chickerell Army Camp to take in the impressive view of the Jurassic Coast and then onto a tour of the beautiful Bennetts Water Gardens.
The aim of the civic day was to promote the Chickerell area and its many businesses and attractions. In turn the Mayor of Chickerell will visit some of the other mayor's towns.
