THE Spirit of Chickerell group are asking for help with their Spirit of Chickerell Day in July.

They would like to hear from any local social or charitable groups that would like to be involved.

L.I.F.T. (Ladies in Fellowship Together) will be meeting on Wednesday, February 10 at 2.30pm when they will be welcoming the Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, her escort and chauffeur.

During the afternoon Mr Nigel Le Seur, the Mayor’s chauffeur, will give a talk on the mayoral regalia.

On Wednesday, February 24 the ladies will be welcoming Geoff King to continue his tales of his theatrical experiences.

As usual there will be a cup of tea and a char at the end of each meeting.

If anyone is interested please go along, there is no charge and you will be assured of a warm welcome.

The next coffee morning held by the L.I.F.T ladies will be on Saturday, February 27, 10am-11.30am.

There will be homemade cakes, bric-a-brac and a raffle.

All friends old and new are welcome.

All of these events will be held at the Chickerell Methodist Church.

CHICKERELL and Charlestown Townswomens Guild are holding a soup and cheese lunch at Marshallsay Court on Saturday, February 13 from noon.

Everyone is welcome to attend, as all profits will go to Cancer Research.

They are also having a talk entitled “What about William?” on Tuesday, February 16.

This will be held at Marshallsay Court and will start at 7.30pm.

Visitors and new members are always welcome.

DORSET County Council is offering drivers a chance to refresh their driving skills in a special course being held at the Willowbed Hall.

The course, which starts at 9.30am on Monday, February 15, is a free three-hour presentation aiming to give drivers of all ages and experience an opportunity to update and improve their skills and knowledge. No driving is involved on the day but details of a practical 90-minute course will be available.

CHICKERELL Town Council has said goodbye to its Town Clerk, Jim Prowse, after over 10 years service.

The staff and Councillors surprised him with a meal at the Turks Head and he was presented with vouchers for the Golf Club.

The Mayor of Chickerell, Councillor John Worth, said that Jim had always given good advice and would be missed by everyone.
