The Dreamscheme is a project for children and young people aged 7/8 to 16+ to undertake helpful work within the community. They earn points for every hour they work and then exchange their points for rewards such as trips or activities which they choose together as a group.

By joining the Dreamscheme a young person’s confidence and self esteem grows as they learn new skills, enjoy new opportunities and receive positive feedback.

Their efforts will make real improvements to the community and promote ‘pro-social behaviour’ and reduce the number of complaints of anti-social behaviour.

Improved relationships will develop between adults, children and agencies as they get to know, trust and respect one another better.

The young children can show what they have achieved which will be great for references and next steps on the ladder of life.

The emphasis is on fun and satisfaction for all involved.

The Littlemoor Dreamscheme will meet once a month and welcomes any support you can offer. For more information please attend the registration meeting on Saturday 25th October at the Community Centre in Canberra Road from 12 to 3pm. Alternatively contact Gil Paterson on 0728112305.

Halloween is almost upon us and this year’s ‘Spooky Night’ party for children is on Friday 31st October between 4.30pm and 7pm at the Community Centre.

Tickets are £1 and there will be plenty of fun games, food and refreshment. There will also be a prize for the best homemade fancy dress costume.

A little less scary is the Teddy Bears Picnic taking place between 11.30am and 12.30 on Wednesday 29th October at the library. Young people between the ages of 6 and 9 years are invited to bring along their favourite toy and enjoy stories and games with a bear theme and have a picnic lunch.

This is a free event but booking is essential. All bears are welcome but must be accompanied by a child and one adult. Ask the library staff for details or telephone 812350 or visit www.dorsetforyou.com/libraries.
