The Park Community Centre at Chelmsford Street Weymouth will be holding a Jumble Sale on Saturday October 27 from 10.30am. Any clean, serviceable jumble can be left with our volunteers at the centre, Monday to Friday between 10am and noon.

The Park District Youth Club meets every Tuesday between 6.30pm and 8.30pm and is for school years 6 to 9. Subs are a mere 50 pence and a tuck shop is available.

We offer pool, snooker, table-tennis, table football, karaoke, computer gaming or just chatting and listening to music. We will be closed on October 30 – half term – and then run from November 6 to December 18.

We are always looking for volunteer helpers and no experience is required as there is a fully trained youth worker (Antonia) in charge. All you need is enthusiasm and a will to help.

The Waterside Singers are the resident Choir of the Park Community Centre & they meet every Monday at 1pm at the Community Centre at Chelmsford Street, under the direction of their teacher Johanna. Come along and enjoy the feeling of singing with friends.

You may have seen the recent television series with Gareth Malone, The Choir, Sing while you Work, and noticed what a positive effect singing can have.

Well, here is your chance to come in and join in a very friendly and informal group of singers (sorry but there are no television cameras recording your every note).

This choir started over two years ago, as a funded project called Can’t Sing, Neither Can We! Whilst the funding may have ended and the name changed, the basic principle is still the same, to encourage everyone to find their voice, no matter what it may sound like and to share in the joy of singing a variety of music with other like-minded people. You don’t have to be able to read music either.

Summer (such as it was) has now finally left us and winter is now fast approaching. It’s another time to think of our neighbours who may not be as sprightly as ourselves.

If we all start now, before the winter finally arrives, it will become second nature to think of those who may have problems getting about in the colder weather and slippery conditions.

The Waterside Forum are asking if we can all spare a small part of our day to develop our community spirit and consider those around us this winter.
