THERE’S to be another of Upwey’s famous parties, this time to celebrate St George’s Day on Friday, April 23.
A truly English occasion, it will be with bangers ’n’ mash and apple pies for supper, some lively entertainment and no doubt everyone joining in something.
There’ll be a quiz, with relevant questions no doubt, and some stories of Upwey, which may come as a surprise. All washed down with plenty of appropriate liquids. This has the makings of a good evening.
Tickets are £10 each, everything included, from Clive on 01305 814691 and the fun starts at 7pm.
UPWEY and Broadwey WI have greatly enjoyed and appreciated recent speakers at their monthly meetings.
Mr John Day particularly caught their attention with his description of the work of Julia’s House, the children’s hospice, and a good donation was made.
Following him, in March, Mr R Buxton, described as a personable young man who loved his subject, gave an illustrated talk about the isles of the west coast of Scotland and made a point of saying how easy it is now to get there on flights from Bournemouth.
Meetings are held at the Memorial Hall in Victoria Avenue on the second Thursday of every month at 2pm and visitors are welcome.
