Dorset Echo: D-Day preparations in Weymouth

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings in World War Two. The invasion took place on June 6, 1944 – known by the codename ‘D-Day.’

The sea landings were part of the Allied invasion of France and were the largest seaborne invasion in history. Hundreds of troops left from Weymouth and Portland.
