IT’S rare I dust off my dancing trousers these days, but with these boys it’s rude – and frankly impossible – not to cut a rug.

This local covers outfit transports us back to our childhoods, teens and – for some – early adulthoods with a set which reads like a soul fan’s dream playlist.

Yes, of course there’s Otis Redding, James Brown, Eddie Floyd and Curtis Mayfield as you’d expect, but the band mixes up the standards with classics from Betty Wright, Dobie Gray, and a bit of Van Morrison.

Boosted to a 10-piece, it’s a great party sound, whatever your generation, and a thoroughly enjoyable two-part set raised the temperature even further and had the crowd dancing the night away.

Sandy Murray’s gravelly and soulful vocals are the perfect accompaniment to a band that clearly enjoys its nights out, with Joe Musker driving them along behind the drums and the four-piece horns section blowing up a storm.

From Morrison’s chugging opener Real Real Gone, through the spot-on instrumental Time Is Tight to a joyous closer of Jackie Wilson’s Higher And Higher, this was the perfect was to start the weekend.
