WITH a shortened version of his current live tour set, Plan B and his band put on one of the best headline shows of recent Summer Ball history.
In his now customary suited and booted attire, the rapper-turned-soul man played hits She Said, new single Prayin’ and the brilliant set closer Stay Too Long from current album The Defamation Of Strickland Banks to an adoring student crowd.
The biggest crowd reactions, though, were reserved for his covers of Bill Withers’ Ain’t No Sunshine and Tinie Tempah’s Pass Out, complete with impressive beatbox support.
Earlier on the same stage, Bombay Bicycle Club had suitably warmed up the crowd for the main event with their indie sounds, and in one of the many other huge marquee tents, The Big Pink and Killa Kela were also entertaining the fancy dressed masses.
Special mention must go to the DJs in the Milk Indie Rocks tent who provided the best half-hour of the night and kudos to the event organisers for managing to sign up such big name acts – long gone are the days when Phantom Planet and The Ordinary Boys were headline names.
Very interested to see what names will be signed up for next year to try and top this year’s line-up. A hard act to follow.
