I have been to a fair few great nights at the O2 over the years and I can add another one to that list after this show.

The venue does seem to be on a bit of a roll at the moment with sold out gigs from Robert Plant, Passenger, The Kooks and The Specials tonight.

With four of the original members, a full band including Steve Craddock on guitar, a horn section and some strings on stage it was pretty crowded both sides of the barrier and the packed venue could not wait for the band to take the stage.

From the opening strains of Ghost Town through Rat Race, It Doesn't Make It Alright, Gangsters, Monkey Man and Too Much Too Young all the way to the final note of the encore this was a night full of energy, dancing and passion.

Considering these songs were born of the 70's and tell of a time when whole communities were dying and the BNP were on the rise, tonight was all about people coming together to enjoy themselves. After all it's almost impossible not to dance, smile and sing along to A Message To You Rudy.

Most of the people here tonight were probably going to see the Specials first time around but it was great to see that there were a fair few younger faces in the crowd which will ensure that this music will be kept alive for years to come.

In fact the only one who left the O2 tonight without a smile on their face was probably Terry Hall!
