AMONGST the chaos, the Circus of Horrors had the same core elements as its more colourful relation in a Big Top. Juggling, sword-swallowing, trapeze and acrobatics, contortionists, slapstick comedy and beautiful show girls all featured at the Pavilion theatre last night.
However, what Coco the Clown wouldn't normally see was a woman being sawn in half with a chainsaw, a man put under the guillotine, or another person being passed through a fan, which were all clever illusions.

This latest incarnation 'The Night of the Zombie' is set in 2020, a decrepit and corpse ridden London. Sensational shocks are interwoven with bizarre circus acts sword swallowers, knife throwers, daredevil balancing acts, astounding aerialists, a demon dwarf, a Guinness World Record holding 'hairculian' hair hanging beauty, Sinister Sisters, gyrating and fire limbo-ing acrobats. The macabre show also features the ghoulish talents of local performers Douglas Child and Stephanie Mercury.
The show started its gruesome beginnings at the 1995 Glastonbury Festival and became an instant hit, touring all over the world. Last year the show even stormed into the finals of Britain's Got Talent and became the first circus to appear in a West End theatre for over 100 years.
Tonight was not for the faint hearted, but with tongue always firmly planted in cheek. Proving the Circus Of Horrors has still got plenty more shocks and scares to unleash on an unsuspecting public.
