THERE are hundreds, if not thousands, of tribute bands plying their trade up and down the country, but I wonder how many of them could pack out the BIC?

The Aussie Pink Floyd have built a reputation based on the quality of this touring show and the near capacity crowd on Friday night were probably as near to seeing the real Pink Floyd as they are ever going to get. They have been endorsed by none other than David Gilmore himself, after all.

Having played to over three million people, this band may have been seen by more fans than the original group.

After watching the show it’s easy to see why people come back year after year to watch even when they know that there will be no new material on offer.

As expected, the band members are excellent musicians and recreate the Floyd sound flawlessly.

The stage setting and light show is better than most you will see with the added bonus of inflatable pigs and kangaroos thrown in for good measure.

The most recognisable songs were all there, including Another Brick in The Wall, Dark Side of The Moon, Division Bell and Wish You Were Here, with the biggest cheer for the main set closer Comfortably Numb.

This was more a musical journey through Floyd’s back catalogue than a hectic gig and I am sure everyone at the BIC was more than happy with that.
