KOOKY comedian Simon Amstell packed out the main theatre of the Lighthouse Poole during his stop in the town last night.

Dressed like a hipster librarian but talking like your best funny friend, Simon would be a perfect dinner party guest if it wasn’t for some un-PC jokes on religion and sexual orientation.

The presenter from BBC’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks and formerly Channel 4’s Popworld is a laugh a minute and rather than shying away from hecklers, he actively incorporates it into the show.

He was supported by Norwegian-born, Daniel Simonsen, whose comedic timing, pessimistic tone and everyday observation was top class.

He spoke about housemates building up confidence to steal your food from the fridge and how he has become an honorary Brit by sighing and shaking his head when somebody steps on the back of his shoe by accident.

It was also truly hilarious when he compared dancing in a club to dancing with his cat at home and how people laugh with comedians who look like failures rather than those who look like they have life together.

I would happily buy a ticket to see him on tour as the headline act just for more laughs as my new favourite comedic find.

But back to Simon, who was equally clever and witty in his jokes, while at times a bit close to the mark, but on the whole he was brilliant, even better in real life than on-screen and certainly one who I hope will be on the comedy scene for a while.
