CD REVIEW - SOL3 MIO
EVER since Yellow Bird was my firm favourite to 'perform' on the recorder at primary school, I've been wondering if I could ever find a professionally recorded track of this chirpy ode to a canary.
Samoan group Sol3 Mio, who, seemingly, are the newest text speak pop-opera group following in the footsteps of Blake and Il Divo, bring us Yellow Bird alongside some songs that we might not be so keen to hear again such as Bring Him Home, Nessun Dorma and a couple of festive tunes chucked in for good measure.
In fairness to this talented trio, they provide us with a different take on Amazing Grace, complete with a middle section of drums and sing with a pure sweetness about their homeland in We Are Samoa.
I'd buy this album if you like your classical pop with emphasis on the unusual and eclectic rather than the saccharine.
