Weymouth Lunchtime Chamber Concerts
St Mary's Church, Weymouth
AN EXCITING development has occurred in the series of Weymouth Lunchtime Chamber Concerts at St Mary's Church Weymouth, which has attracted consistently large audiences.
Pianist Duncan Honeybourne needs no introduction to Weymouth and worldwide music lovers.
This season he has been joined by the exceptionally gifted violinist Catrin Win Morgan in performances of the complete violin and piano sonatas of Beethoven and Brahms.
Wednesday May 20 was the last but one of these superb recitals; the last will take place on June 17.
As always, Catrin and Duncan were a perfectly matched pair - whether in the rip-roaring Brahms Sonatensatz (Sonata piece, 1853) or the two delightful early Beethoven sonatas which followed (op. 30 in G, 1802 and op. 24 in F, 1800-01).
Catrin played both with the utmost delicacy.
The second is sufficiently well known to have a nickname - the Spring Sonata.
The two musicians worked their magic and ended in an atmosphere of real joy.
