THE glamour and sophistication of the 1920s was brought to life at Bournemouth Pavilion, as the “song and dance extravaganza” which is Puttin’ on the Ritz took to the stage.

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers Robin Windsor and Gordana Grandosek were joined by a team of talented dancers and four fantastic singers, including Lance Ellington, who sings on the BBC TV show itself.

The show featured the wonderful music of the likes of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and George Gershwin, transporting the audience back to the roaring twenties, with cha-chas, Charlestons and a breathtakingly beautiful rhumba.

Robin and Gordana’s numbers were treated to a rousing reception, while the supporting dancers showed they could hold their own among the TV favourites, with a slick, high energy tap routine, and some extremely impressive “hand-ography”.

Classic numbers such as Cheek to Cheek, Feeling Good, Cry Me A River and Birth of the Blues were accompanied by some lesser known jazz standards, perfectly showcasing the golden musical era.

A showstopping evening of glitz and glamour, which has left me counting down the days until the return of Strictly!
