It's rare to find comedians nowadays who appear as they are on TV.

They either don't make you giggle quite as much or demonstrate a completely different persona.

However, Josh Widdicombe breaks the mould.

Performing at the Pavilion last night, the quick-witted stand-up delivered cutting quips while still managing to take the time to get to know his Bournemouth audience.

Having been a stand up comedian for eight years and a co-presenter on the popular The Last Leg show on Channel Four, it's unsurprising he filled the seats of the auditorium.

His support act - the very funny and charismatic Suzi Ruffell -quickly created a rapport with her audience and got a fair few laughs.

But it was also a night for Mr Widdicombe to be served a little bit of stand-up style ridicule when, not having any local knowledge, he had to have Lytchett Matravers spelled to him disbelieving the village's existence.

Oh how the tables were turned and the characteristically awkward Widdicombe blushed unaware of the audiences own joke.

His tour 'What Do I Do Now' should give him plenty of ideas for what's next: Keep doing stand up.

A great evening with fun and enjoyable levels of humour that everyone could enjoy. Providing you were born before 2001.

And no you definitely shouldn't serve brie with jaffa cakes. On that point, we are in agreement.
