If there’s one thing to take away from tonight, it’s that Bournemouth likes a bit of filth.

The Mock The Week regular is working from two clipboards; one featuring witty one-liners and another with “revolting” jokes that would make your nan blush.

Testing our boundaries of decency from the offset, it quickly becomes clear we’ve got an appetite for the latter.

Already 100 dates into his ‘There’s Something About Gary’ tour, the comedian’s enthusiasm is infectious with word-play and puns coming thick and fast.

Warm-up act Steve Day – who describes himself as Britain’s only deaf comedian – delivered an engaging set that was lapped up by the buoyant Saturday night crowd.

Delaney last played Bournemouth five years ago “to a crowd of 45 people in a church” but he seems genuinely made up by the reaction of the 250 people packed snugly together in the Pavilion Ballroom.

He makes light work of shutting down the hecklers who pipe up throughout (and the woman in the front row whose mobile rings not once but twice).

The former conference organiser even includes a PowerPoint presentation where he showcases pictures of amusing things he’s seen while travelling the country.

And the interesting ‘facts’ he’s added to several Wikipedia pages that he shares on screen have us in stitches.

There is something about Gary. He’s hilarious. And you’re welcome back in Bournemouth anytime – just don’t leave it five years.
