SIMON Townshend, younger brother of The Who guitarist Pete Townshend proved that rock ‘n’ roll is in his DNA.

Last time he graced Dorset with his amazing stage presence was when he was guitarist to Roger Daltrey when he performed Tommy at the O2 Academy in Boscombe. Simon is on a 20-date UK tour to promote his new album Looking Out, Looking In.

Support was from local band The Frequency who played a storming set with outstanding vocals from Austyn Brown, they definitely had the crowd warmed up ready for Simon Townshend. Simon Townshend showed Mr Kyps why he was chosen to tour with Roger Daltrey and The Who with his energetic guitar playing, even breaking a string on his first song didn’t faze him.

Townshend played a set that crossed many genres including rock and roll and ballads.

Stand out tracks include There’s A Girl and Making Waves. The new material is well worth a listen and not just for Who fans.

Gaining a real rapport with the crowd, Townshend proved he is more than just Roger Daltrey’s guitarist and a musical sibling.

Hopefully it won’t be long until he comes back to Dorset again.
