MAKE the most of this weekend with a host of fun events for all to enjoy.

Bridport’s annual Food Festival takes place over the coming week and its first event is a celebration of seafood on Sunday.

Hosted by the Riverside Restaurant in West Bay, this is a must for everyone who likes to buy and cook their fish straight from the sea.

Fresh fish will be available to buy and will be cooked on the barbecue for everyone to taste, alongside lobster, crab, squid, scallops and other fishy delights.

The day, which is free and runs from 10am until 4pm, also gives you the opportunity to meet and talk to local fishermen and suppliers, and chef Mark Hix will also be in town to give cookery demonstrations.

Bridport Food Festival continues for the rest of the week, with the highlights taking place on June 16 and 17, when there will be lots of free family events and a beer festival, organised by Bridport Round Table.

West Bay is also the home of the annual West Dorset Vintage Rally, which features wonderful parades of tractors and old vehicles, static displays and much more.

This is the 36th year that the two-day event has been held.

It starts tomorrow with an auction of bygone and vintage memorabilia at 10am and continues until Sunday with a wealth of events including all things old and motorised as well as dog shows, birds of prey displays, live music, model shows, an on-site bakery and plenty of refreshments.

Admission is £6 plus concessions and the show site is well signposted.

The picturesque village of Drimpton is on display this weekend with 14 of its gardens opening their gates to the public on Sunday between 1pm and 6pm.

Signs depicting daisies will show which gardens are open and there will also be a plant sale and refreshments. Admission costs £3.50 for all gardens and proceeds will go to the village hall.
