UK’s Eurovision Song Contest hope Electro Velvet have put in their bid for the winning performance in tonight’s competition in Vienna, Austria.
The duo offered a kitsch staging of their song Still In Love With You, complete with electric violins, light-up dresses and backing dancers showing off a Charleston-inspired routine.
Alex Larke and Bianca Nicholas were the fifth act of the night to take to the stage in the Wiener Stadthalle, where they performed their electro-swing track which was written by David Mindel and Adrian Bax White.
Bianca, who has cystic fibrosis, may be familiar as a former The Voice UK contestant, while Alex’s day job is as a primary school teacher who moonlights as Mick Jagger in Rolling Stones tribute act The Rolling Clones.
The song got a positive reception from some.
Others (OK most) were less impressed.
And a bit surprised by the scatting in the middle of it.
There are 27 acts performing at Eurovision tonight – 20 who made it through from the semi-finals earlier in the week, the “Big Five” financial backers UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, last year’s winners Austria, and special guests Australia.
Last year’s winning singer Conchita Wurst is one of tonight’s hosts, while Graham Norton is presenting the UK’s TV coverage for BBC One.
