AFTER a couple of weeks where venues remained dark while everyone recovered from the pantomime season, West Dorset’s live entertainment springs back to life this weekend.

Those temporal tricksters The Time-Travelling Magicians are back in the county tonight, tomorrow and Sunday with an amazing and highly entertaining show that is suitable for all ages.

Stuffed to the brim with laughs, gasps and audience interaction, and brimming over with baffling magic and unparalleled precognitive powers, this pair of temporal tricksters burst into the 21st century with their trademark mixture of magic, wit and whimsy.

The magicians’ fanbase includes Paul Daniels and Penn and Teller, so this is one not to miss. They are at Durweston, Cerne Abbas and Martinstown today, tomorrow and Sunday at 7.30pm – call 01305 269512 for bookings or visit artsreach.co.uk Museum Tim Kliphuis is widely regarded as a worthy successor to French swing maestro Stéphane Grappelli.

Tim’s trio, which plays at Hinton Martell today, West Knighton tomorrow and Studland on Sunday, takes the Grappelli style forward several masterful steps with their inspired and deliciously effervescent mix of Gypsy jazz, classical and folk music.

Performances are at 7.30pm – call 01305 269512 for bookings or visit artsreach.co.uk If you are looking for something with a bit more ooh la-la, pop along to Lighthouse in Poole tomorrow for The Burlesque Show, a stunning night of sophisticated tease, wonderful comedy, magic and music featuring the UK’s finest artistes of the genre.

Feathers will fly from 7.45pm – call 0844 406 8666 for tickets and full details. The show is for age 16 and above.

Finally, exotic Japanese theatre comes to West Stafford village hall on Sunday in the shape of Rouge28 Theatre and Urashima Taro.

Inspired by Japanese mythology, it tells the story of a young fisherman seduced by the charms of a mysterious and cruel turtle-woman.

Urashima Taro is a highly visual piece about power, seduction and death, with an underlying sense of humour that includes video projection, shadow play, puppetry and actor merge to create a fascinating story of lust, betrayal and loss.

The performance is at 7.30pm and tickets are available from 01305 257266.
