IT’S all going on this weekend, with some great theatre, comedy, music and dance to keep you on your toes.

Living Spit theatre company make their joyous return to the county with their slightly ‘different’ look at the lives of Henry VIII and his ill-fated wives.

With a rough and ready approach to historical accuracy that would make Simon Schama blush, Coggins and Stu McLoughlin re-enact the life and loves of one of England’s most infamous monarchs.

The Six Wives of Henry VIII was an undisputed hit at the Bristol Old Vic, and this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, so don’t miss them tonight at Powerstock Hut near Bridport at 7.30pm (call 01308 485264 for tickets and details).

You can also catch the show at Martinstown village hall tomorrow night at 7.30pm (call 01305 889963) and at Child Okeford near Blandford on Sunday at 7.30pm (call 01258 861391).

There are also three chances to catch up with some accordion magic this weekend as Karen Tweed & Paul Hutchinson, alias Beauty or the Beast, visit a trio of venues.

Friends for years, you can expect lots of banter and some fabulous music from this great pair of pals. Karen won an All Ireland Championship title on the melodica when she was 17 before deciding to concentrate on the accordion. One of the leading lights on the UK and international folk scenes, Karen is recognised for her inspirational teaching and groundbreaking partnerships.

King of the accordion Paul Hutchinson first studied piano and church organ then at the age of 17 he took up the accordion and formed a ceilidh band. Perhaps best known these days for his work in the Folk Awards nominated duo Belshazzar’s Feast, other notable collaborations include Hoover the Dog, Fruits of Paradise and The Playford Liberation Front.

Catch this barmy but brilliant duo at village halls in Tarrant Gunville tonight (call 01258 830361), Burton Bradstock tomorrow (call 01308 897214) and Studland on Sunday (call 01929 450514). Performances are at 7.30pm.

Beautiful dance also comes to the county all the way from Sweden when Panta-Rei Danseteater come to Buckland Newton tonight with I Wish Her Well.

The biographical show is created from the memories of women well-known to the performers and is an intricate performance, combining storytelling, acrobatic elements, high tempo energy and an evocative sound score by British composer Nathaniel Reed.

The show is at 7.30pm – call 01300 345543 for bookings and full details.
