AFTER over 25 years of playing almost every style of music, except the one usually associated with the banjo, renowned five-string banjoist Leon Hunt decided it was time to get back to playing some good old-fashioned bluegrass.

So with his long-time musical collaborator Jason Titley he is back on the road with his band to perform a tribute show to the original architect of the bluegrass banjo style, Earl Scruggs.

Bass player and vocalist Ben Somers, who can also be seen playing saxophone for the likes of Dizzee Rascal and Seal and Hayseed Dixie mandolinist Joe Hymas joined forces with Jason and Leon to form The Leon Hunt n-Tet.

Following a memorable performance at Purbeck Folk Festival last summer, the band is back in Dorset to play homage to Scruggs with tracks from their debut album Farewell Blues.

See them at Powerstock Hut near Bridport on March 28, Sturminster Marshall village hall on March 29 and Studland village hall on March 30. Shows at 7.30pm.
