VIOLIN virtuoso Nigel Kennedy is bringing his world acclaimed Bach Plus Concert Series to the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil.

His typically maverick musical programme will celebrate the music of Bach as well as other brilliant composers that have influenced him.

He has announced a further eight dates this summer, joining his Bach To The Future shows and Kennedy will bring his show to Yeovil on July 4.

The concert takes the listener on a journey which begins with Bach sonatas and partitas for solo violin, after which Kennedy is joined by two acoustic guitarists, a snare drum and a double bass to perform his own arrangements of some of his favourite music from Fats Waller, Brubeck to Monti’s Czardas and much more.

The evening also includes works by the violinist himself, including Melody in the Wind, which featured on the Last Night of the Proms.

As the best-selling violinist of all time, whose technical brilliance has been admired in an international career spanning three decades, Nigel Kennedy is acknowledged as one of the world's leading violinists. In addition to his musical brilliance, he is a generous performer, connecting with audiences in a way seldom experienced in traditional classical music venues.

Last year Kennedy released his brand new album Recital (Sony Classical), a tribute to the two most influential musical figures in his life: Yehudi Menuhin and Stéphane Grappelli.

This is set to be a hugely entertaining and enjoyable evening where skill and passion come together for an electrifying evening of music.

Tickets are priced at £38.50 for the Yeovil Octagon and available from ticketmaster.co.uk
