A FUNDRAISING event is being held at a Dorset writer's home in a bid to raise crucial cash for a Dorchester arts organisation.

Summer Sunday with Instant Sunshine is at Minette and Alec Walters’ residence Whitcombe Manor near Dorchester on August 2 from 12pm.

Instant Sunshine is a unique musical comedy team that has been entertaining audiences for 50 years with its particular blend of humorous, witty songs and hilarious routines. They take a sideways look at everyday life in a beguiling and funny style all of their own.

Minette Walters and Dorchester Arts are delighted that they have chosen Whitcombe Manor as their warm-up venue.

Minette, who is a keen advocate of fundraising events for the arts, said: "When Dorchester Arts asked if they could bring Instant Sunshine to Whitcombe, I thought what a treat!

"They never fail to make me laugh. I know it will be a wonderfully entertaining event."

Having recently moved to their new home at the Corn Exchange, Dorchester Arts is keen to continue its fundraising goals to help maintain and improve its arts offer and facilities for everyone to enjoy.

Tickets to see Instant Sunshine are £20 and include finger buffet and a glass of bubbly. There is a cash bar and a raffle of exciting prizes will held during the afternoon.

A portion of the proceeds made on the day will be donated to The Fortuneswell Cancer Trust.
