QUIRKY dancing will accompany old-time roots music at Bridport Arts Centre

'Crazy Legs' Gordie MacKeeman and his Rhythm Boys will perform at Bridport Arts Centre on Wednesday August 12 at 8pm.

MacKeeman has earned the nickname 'Crazy Legs' for his quirky dance style delivered as he sings bluegrass songs accompanied by Peter Cann on guitar and multi-instrumentalists Thomas Webb and Mark Geddes.

Hailing from Prince Edward Island on Canada’s east coast, Gordie MacKeeman & His Rhythm Boys serve up old-time roots music with an energy level that practically yanks you out of your seat by the collar.

The band state a huge range of musical influences from old time fiddle, to swing, Celtic and bluegrass to heavy metal.

Gordie will draw influence from old time fiddlers like Al Cherney and Ned Landry, and also artists like Buddy Holly.

Mark Radcliffe has said on his BBC Radio 2 Folk Show: “Gordie and the Boys are great players, sharp songwriters, invigorating company…..not to mention the nifty dancing. "Frankly, what’s not to like?”

First and foremost they are known for exhilarating live shows.

Gordie said: “We take a lot of pride in our live shows, and that is what we feel most comfortable doing.

"We love being in front of an audience and I think that shows.

"My favourite response from people, is when someone says 'I don't usually like this kind of music, but I really like you guys'.
