GREAT DAYS OUT
ON THE TRAIL OF ENID BLYTON
Follow in the footsteps of the nation's best known children's author, who used Purbeck as the inspiration for many of her stories and characters.
She holidayed there three times a year for more than 20 years.
Enid enjoyed staying at the Grand Hotel in Swanage, owned the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club and used Corfe Castle as the inspiration for Kirrin Castle in her Famous Five books.
Other links to the author are Stoborough Heath, believed to be the Mystery Moor in her books and Brownsea Island, believed to be the Whispering Island.
There's also a Ginger Pop shop in Corfe, where you can stock up on ginger beer and browse from a range of 150 Enid Blyton books.
