THE KEEP MILITARY MUSEUM, BRIDPORT ROAD, DORCHESTER
RECENTLY the new home of a secret Gallipoli campaign diary, The Keep contains a wealth of wartime treasures.
Climb to the top of this Portland stone building for wonderful views over the county town.
There are displays over four floors which include uniforms, weapons, silverware, painings, badges, personal artefacts, photographs, documents and a splendid collection of medals.
The Keep tries to tell the human story behind the exhibit and has a realistic First World War Officer's Dug-Out and Other Ranks bunk-room for a taste of life in the trenches.
Operating on winter opening hours, you can visit Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4.30pm.
