A GENUINELY unique band will be performing their driving drone-based sound this month.

Blowzabella, with their rhythmic expertise and sheer feeling, will perform in South Petherton on Saturday May 14.

They compose their own music which is influenced by English and European traditional dance music.

All the band members compose and many of their tunes are 'standards' in the modern British/European folk repertoire and are played by people all over the world.

Bands across Europe who experiment with folk music often cite Blowzabella as a major influence.

Blowzabella’s Andy Cutting has just won BBC Folk Awards Musician of the Year for the third time.

A remarkable achievement for a remarkable musician, Andy joined Blowzabella when he was a teenager and the band was the first showcase for his many talents.

At this gig the band will be playing a lot of new material as well as old favourites.

Blowzabella perform at the David Hall in South Petherton, Somerset, on May 14 at 7.30pm. Call 01460 240340 for tickets or see thedavidhall.org.uk/
