A GROUP of up-and-coming Royal Opera soloists from around the world are visiting Dorset for a one-off concert.

The event takes place at Milton Abbey at 7.30pm on Saturday, April 28 and features members of the prestigious Royal Opera Jette Parker Young Artists' (JPYA) Programme.

As a member of the initiative at the Royal Opera, a performer's future is almost guaranteed. The programme is designed to support the artistic development of talented singers at the beginning of their career.

Young artists are employed as salaried members of The Royal Opera over a two-year period, during which time they are immersed in the life of the Royal Opera House to help them form their own artistic identity and give them guidance on their journey through their career.

The young artists participate in a specially-tailored programme, which includes extensive daily coaching in languages, stagecraft and vocal techniques, alongside preparing cover roles, and performing concerts and smaller roles on the main stage.

In a rare, one-off appearance outside the Royal Opera House itself, four of this year’s JPYA young singers, from around the world, are appearing for this very special event, which is to be held in the stunning setting of Milton Abbey, a location which hosts a 500-acre landscape ‘of exceptional historic interest’ created by Capability Brown.

Jointly hosted by Dorset Opera Festival, which hosts an annual opera event every July at Bryanston, and Milton Abbey, tickets are £40 a head which includes interval wine and canapés
