ARTHUR Miller's allegorical tale of witchery and persecution, The Crucible, is being retold this month.

Patchwork Theatre Company, which is made up of final year students on Weymouth College's performance practice course, are performing the iconic play in the college and at St George's Church Hall in Fordington.

The Crucible is based around the true story of the Salem witch trials, which turned a rural town on its head and saw a group of hysterical girls accusing the population of witchcraft - a crime punishable by death.

Although a striking play in its own right, it is also a take on the allegorical relationship to testimony given before the House Committee On Un-American Activities during the 1950s.

The college adaptation has cast Lucie Marks as Abigail Williams, Stuart Earp as John Proctor, Christina Asman as his wife Elizabeth, Robert Greaves as Reverend Parris and Ashley Matthews as Reverend John Hale.

You can see Patchwork Theatre's The Crucible at Weymouth College Theatre on Thursday, May 15 at 7.30pm and at St George's Church Hall, Fordington, Dorchester, on Wednesday, May 21 at 8pm.

Tickets are £6 plus concessions.
