THE Nothe Fort and Weymouth Drama Club have agreed to stage a major event in 2011.

The production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest will be performed in June.

The drama club has many years’ experience of putting on outdoor productions at the Nothe.

Director Richard Grafton has previously directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the historic fort and this time the drama club is hoping that the community can be involved with the show.

Richard said: “We are holding a reading of the play on November 23 at the Warehouse Theatre in Hope Street. This will enable anyone who wants to be involved onstage or backstage to listen to the play and meet our creative team.”

The staging will help to raise funds for the Nothe Fort, one of the town’s most popular attractions.

The Tempest will be an enjoyable interpretation of one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, performed in a natural amphitheatre.

Patrons will be able to bring a picnic to enjoy on the ramparts of the Fort, making the event a must on the summer 2011 calendar.
