THERE is no escaping Christmas in Weymouth this weekend, as the town turns out to celebrate the festive season.

Tomorrow night sees Weymouth Choral Society perform their annual, eagerly anticipated concert in Holy Trinity Church by Town Bridge.

The choir will be joined by members of the Dorset Youth Singers who will sing favourites like Walking in the Air, Silent Night and songs from Oliver!

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £8 plus concessions from 01305 775644 and on the door.

Christmas comes to The Nothe Fort tomorrow, with Scrooge’s Christmas Presence.

All ages are welcome to pop in and visit Santa in his grotto and receive an early present. There will also be face painting, children’s Christmas crafts, plus music and entertainment from Weymouth Concert Brass, Weymouth School Choirs.

The event runs from 10.30am until 4.30pm and includes The Spirit of Scrooge Walk, where The Ghost of Christmas Present will take you through Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

There is also so much going on in Dorchester over the next couple of days that it is hard to know how everything will fit in.

If the festive season is starting to get to you, work off some of your anger at Murder in the Museum tonight at the County Museum, Dorchester.

The event is promising an evening of drama, archaeology, sleuthing and entertainment in the atmospheric Victorian Hall. Tickets cost £20, which includes a buffet meal. Events kick off at 7.30pm and for further details and bookings call 01305 262735.

Fund-raisers for Julia’s House hospice are holding a Christmas Gifts and Indulgence Evening in Dorchester Corn Exchange today, from 6.30pm - 9.30pm.

There will be entertainment, wine tasting, refreshments, raffle and lots of gifts and treats. Entry is free.

Dorchester Choral Society are in action tomorrow, performing Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at St Mary’s Church in Edward Road.

Author David Macpherson launches his latest book, The Defenders of Mai Dun at Dorset County Museum tomorrow.

The book is based on the Roman storming of Maiden Castle and tells of the relationship that develops between a British boy and a Roman centurion.

The book launch is from 2pm to 5pm and gives you the chance to meet the author.

The weekend ends with a two-mile Family Santa Run at Thomas Hardye School, Dorchester, 9am (details From 01305 215320) and a debut performance by the Harmonious Funk Choir at Herrison Hall, Charlton Down at 4pm. There is free entry with charity collection.
