TALENTED young dancers from West Dorset will be giving a gala performance at Weymouth Pavilion on Friday night. The stars of Dorchester Ballet Theatre will be presenting A Gala Programme of Ballet supported with special guests South Coast Ballet.

Members of this ballet group recently wowed audiences in Bournemouth and Poole with their highly acclaimed version of the classic La Fille Mal Gardee.

They will be joined on stage by Caitlin O’Farrell from Bridport and who is currently studying at prestigious Tring Park School.

Home-grown dancers, directed by South Coast Ballet’s director and choreographer, Caron Yardley, will be presenting a one-act version her fabulously entertaining and humorous Cinderella, which never fails to delight audiences wherever it is performed.

Caron said: “The ballet will feature two of the most nasty ugly sisters you’ll ever meet and a romantic pas de duex between Cinderella and her Prince reminiscent of our recent royal wedding.”

South Coast Ballet, will present an array of stunning divertissements from the classical callet repertoire including the famous Elssler Pas de Deux from La Fille Mal Gardee, and the stunning Grand Pas de Deux from Le Corsair.

They will also present extracts from The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle and Coppelia along with Anna Pavlova’s legendary solo The Dying Swan.

The group is known and praised for its vitality, freshness and invigorating performances that are alive with youthfulness and energy. This group works to a high standard, presenting affordable ballet at it’s best to all audiences.

Both South Coast Ballet and Dorchester Ballet Theatre make no profit and receive no grant assistance or funding, and rely solely on the membership of dancers and support of audiences to meet the costs of its productions.

The company supports, encourages and provides opportunities for young talent and local young people to develop their futures as performing artists under the expert and knowledgeable guidance of its director.

The generous patronage of audiences ensures the group can continue to survive these hard times and provide such a valuable contribution to the local arts communities across Dorset.

Caron added: “These talented young dancers hope they will get good audience attendance in what is a fantastic programme with something for everyone, including those new to ballet, and for people of all ages.

“The dancers guarantee that you will not be disappointed with their mature and outstanding performances.”
