TALENT will out, as you will see if you attend this year’s DASP summer concert. Hundreds of young musicians from across the Dorchester Area Schools Partnership (DASP) will join together for a night of Olympic Music Making on the Thomas Hardye School Field.

Students from the 13 first schools, Sunninghill Prep School, three middle schools and the Thomas Hardye School will combine to perform an exciting array of music.

Items from individual schools will be mixed in with performances from the DASP flagship groups. These will include DASP Middle Schools Orchestra, DASP Flute Choir, DASP Brass Group, DASP First Schools Orchestra, DASP Rock School, DASP Jazz Band, and DASP Harmony Group.

As always, the concert will take place in a marquee on the Thomas Hardye School field, adorned with colourful bunting and Union flags.

The concert will feature old favourites, including the National Anthem and Rule Britannia, combined with Olympic-themed items.

Hundreds of students between the ages of six and 18 will perform to an audience of around 700. The concert will also feature the annual presentation of the DASP Citizenship Awards to deserving students from across the Dorchester Area, which will be presented by Deputy Mayor, Councillor Tess James.

James Baker, DASP music co-ordinator, said: “I’m extremely excited about this year’s marquee concert. It is a pleasure each year to see musicians of all ages join together in a musical performance of this scope.”

The concert is on June 30 and tickets will be available from Monday, June 11. For more information contact music@dasp.org.uk, or call 01305 259721.
