AN ENSEMBLE production by students of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School is a regular, popular fixture on the Artsreach summer programme, and this year is no exception as they take on Cold Comfort Farm.
Stella Gibbons’ Cold Comfort Farm has found a place in the hearts of many devotees of the comic English novel, parodying as it does the romantic stories of DH Lawrence and Mary Webb.
In Paul Doust’s hilarious stage play, the heroine, Flora Poste, embarks upon a quest to discover her family’s roots, and as a result the “nice girl from London” meets the rough and ready Starkadders of Cold Comfort Farm.
Who can fail to enjoy her meeting evil Aunt Ada Doom, the fey Elfine and smouldering Seth?
With past graduates including Pete Postlethwaite, Jeremy Irons, Miranda Richardson and Peter O’Toole, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School brings you the stars of tomorrow today.
Catch Cold Comfort Farm at Frampton village hall near Dorchester on June 30 – call 07968 586906.
Also at the Sturminster Newton Exchange on July 1 – call 01258 475137. Both shows are at 7.30pm.
