EXPECT a phenomenal night of musical talent at Bridport Arts centre tomorrow when Julie Dunn, pictured on the right, and Charlotte Storey take to the stage.

Jazz singer, pianist, teacher and songwriter Julie Dunn has been appearing in public with increasing acclaim for the past couple of years alongside saxophonist, singer and guitarist Charlotte Storey.

The two women are dynamic performers, both with theatrical backgrounds.

Charlotte’s early acting career saw her understudying Jane Horrocks in Sam Mendes’ Donmar Warehouse production of Cabaret and Julie comes from a prodigiously musical and acting family, having learnt the piano from an early age and appearing in numerous productions from her childhood to the present day.

Arts centre programme manager Margie Barbour said: “Since the very first time they met to rehearse, the two women found an uncanny synchronicity in their vocal sound. A beautiful blending of their individual voices as they harmonised from their initial meeting has led to an exquisitely crafted creative output which they offer today to their audiences in every live performance, invariably leaving them spellbound.”

The duo specialises in upbeat jazzy swing and blues together with sumptuous renditions of popular contemporary ballads by artists such as Sting, Neil Young, Tom Waits and Adele.

Charlotte and Julie have recently embarked upon a series of concerts celebrating the prolific work of Grammy award-winning artist Barbra Streisand who celebrates 50 successful years in show business this year – songs that stir the emotions and lift the spirit. Tomorrow’s gig starts at 8pm and tickets are £10 plus concessions from the box office on 01308 424204.
