During the war and the preceding years my father can remember the sand modeller bringing joy to the crowds and there were crowds on Weymouth beach on a daily basis.
When the tide came in his hard work was washed away, a clean canvas to create another crowd pleaser.
Why have we allowed the council to pass on a prime unadulterated piece of pristine sand? A concrete bunker which would fit into the landscape of Aldermaston or Windscale.
This planning along with the lasers shows the council for what they are.
The real projects to benefit the whole community, and in my eyes, brought pleasure to locals and tourists, have been left to fall into disrepair, the Princess Diana waterfall at the Nothe and the partially-sighted gardens at Greenhill.
These were of more benefit to the wider community compared to a concrete bunker.
