Having raised the issue of people not clearing up the mess their dogs and cats leave behind I have read with interest the large amount of people and children who are fed up with the lack of duty and concern owners show.

Yesterday, travelling on a bus, I saw a retired couple had pulled their car into the lay-by on the new road.

They had taken the dog on a lead and led it to the side of the bin where it did its business.

They popped the dog back in the car and off they went, not even bothering to put it in the bin six inches to the left.

Another area of concern is that the current ‘stop the drop’ campaign has discovered 50 bags of dog soil bagged and thrown into people’s gardens.

This is just very dangerous as the sealed bags, especially in the hot weather, ferment and really are toxic.

That means the owners are deliberately poisoning our area of outstanding beauty – why can we not prosecute instead of quietly ignoring the problem?

It just beggars belief that dog owners seems to think some dog poo fairy is going to clear it up when it really is up to decent volunteers giving up their precious time to clear up the mess.
