AN EXHIBITION by the Dorchester Art Club at Dorset County Museum generated both interest and sales.

The club’s open exhibition proved popular as did the Words and Pictures creative writing programme for youngsters that ran alongside it.

Prize winners from the exhibition included Mary Lucroft, who claimed the Edward Grassby Memorial Cup, and Tony Paul for Most Popular Painting. Tony Paul also won The Herring Award for the Effect of Light and Margaret Tacon claimed the DAC Award for the exhibition committee’s favourite picture.

Other winners included Iris McCrow, whose picture of Weymouth Harbour won The Lesley Phillips Trophy for a Dorset Scene, and Mike Jackson, who was awarded The Stella and Trevor Jones Trophy for Contemporary Art.
