The future for the Weymouth Pavilion complex has become a narrow local argument, which given the financial position councillors find themselves forced into is unlikely to be resolved positively.

I suggest that a better tack would be to persuade central government that the complex is actually a regional resource with a proven route to employment for young people.

The coalition are vulnerable on the issue of youth employment/unemployment and I urge anyone with knowledge to lobby MPs and ministers showing them real proof of the opportunity and success provided to young people by Weymouth Pavilion.

In national terms the amount of money needed to maintain a theatre complex similar to now is tiny but the benefits are incalculable.
