AN exhibition featuring the work of former Dorset Echo photographer Brice Litson has gone on show at Weymouth Library.

It features dozens of stunning images taken on his trusty Nikon camera over many years.

The exhibition is being staged by friends and former colleagues of the photographer who sadly passed away last year.

The photographs, all in black and white, feature photo-journalism images from his days at the Echo, scenes of the Dorset countryside, summer festivals and ordinary, everyday scenes made extraordinary by his talent.

A launch evening at the Mulberry gallery was attended by Bruce's mother Audrey, his brother Richard, his daughter Georgina, friends and former work colleagues.

Audrey said: “It is a wonderful exhibition of which he would be very proud.

“This is a very special occasion for the family as it concerns part of Bruce's life that we will never forget and makes us reminisce about all the good things about him.

Former Dorset Echo editor Mike Woods also spoke movingly about Bruce.

He said: “The sad thing about tonight is that Bruce cannot be with us. If he was he would undoubtedly still be as modest about his talent as he always was.

“He had an exceptional talent. You could send Bruce to do a job that would require no more than a line-up of faces but always there was a hidden eye there that was looking for the photograph that was quirky, had great composition and, most of all, the photograph that told the story without the need for any words.”

All pictures in the exhibition are for sale with the proceeds going to Weldmar HospiceCare Trust.

To purchase a picture, visitors can fill out an order form which are available at the gallery.

The exhibition runs until Saturday March 23 at the Mulberry Gallery in Weymouth Library.

The organisers would like to thank the following for all their help in making the exhibition a reality.
They include Ikea, Frames First and Value House who provides the frames and Herring and Son of Dorchester who supplied mounting card.
Weymouth College kindly provided the use of its darkroom over several weeks to hand-print the pictures.

Wine for the launch night was donated by Palmers Wine Store of Bridport and food for the evening by Asda in Weymouth and the Centenary Club provided glasses.
