VISITORS to West Dorset beaches were warned not to go near areas of unstable cliff after another landslip at Freshwater, near Burton Bradstock.
A sizeable fall of rock and debris yesterday, very close to the spot where a woman was killed last summer, has prompted new safety warnings.
People on the beach were seen climbing over the freshly disturbed rock and clay under the notoriously unstable cliffs between Freshwater beach and Hive beach.
Clive Edwards, station manager for the Lyme Bay Coastwatch team, warned walkers that the whole cliff from West Bay to Burton Bradstock and Freshwater was ‘seriously dangerous’.
He said: “We have still seen one or two people pass close by.
“The cliff is very unstable and the advice is to stay well clear.”
