I was sad to learn that Mr Samways is very concerned that the No1 bus will no longer stop at the Town Bridge and that people will now have to walk to the Statue or North Quay to get to Portland. I think the No4/4b bus had to vacate the K4 bus stop at the statue in order for this stop to be used to help the Portland people, as this would save them having to walk from Debenhams to the statue and vice versa when travelling to Dorchester.

The No4/4b bus has now been allocated the K5 bus stop on the other side of the road and this is shared with the X53, and, I believe the Waterside bus, thus we hesitate to contemplate what the queues will be like when the summer holidaymakers are here.

I think most of the people using the No4/4b service were quite happy and used to walking from the shops to the K4 bus stop which has a shelter rather than have to walk and wait at K5 which doesn’t have a shelter, though I understand one is promised. Yes, it is very frustrating to see the empty bus parked a short distance down the road but we are not allowed to get on it. Could I also point out that we failed to get the No.4/4b to continue serving the Oakbury Drive area in Preston and we now have to walk to the bus stops on the main Preston Road.

At the moment I am quite capable of doing this but there are people who are less mobile than me and who find it difficult, particularly when trying to get to the surgery.

Previously, we had a bus every 20 minutes, now we have none.

Cheer up Mr Samways, there is usually something positive to every situation.
