A SIXTH-FORM student from Leweston School in Sherborne has travelled to London to give MPs food for thought on the issue of world hunger.
Daisy Powles spent a day in Westminster with 28 other sixth-formers from Catholic schools and colleges across the country. The visit was organised by Catholic aid agency CAFOD as part of its Hungry for Change campaign. They toured the Houses of Parliament, watched Prime Minister’s Questions and took part in a discussion with MPs.
Daisy said: “I had a really good meeting with my MP Bill Wiggin. “It was really natural and I felt he was listening to me. “He appreciated what CAFOD was working towards and talked about the 0.7 per cent aid commitment and how the government was already trying to help.
“I emphasised the need for aid that really empowers people and is sustained in the long term.”
