Surely if, after two reviews, the Crown Prosecution Service has decided there’s insufficient evidence to prosecute the ex-Special Constable Collette Carpenter for using her mobile phone whilst driving (at the time of a crash that caused the death of a motorcyclist), then that decision should be accepted by all of us including Martyn Underhill.
As a result of this I would suggest his role is to discuss with the chief constable yet another crackdown on motorists using hands on mobile phones illegally.
After all if I see them on an almost daily basis, then surely the police must do too.
